Lake Management Group

of Hickory Hills Lake, Lunenburg, MA

The Lake Management Group  was formed in January 2009.   We are volunteers dedicated to preserving Hickory Hills Lake for generations to come.  We  evaluate all aspects of our lake environment and make recommendations to the Board of Directors on issues that may now or in the future affect the natural health of the lake.

Your help is much needed! If you can participate in a single event, take part in a single project, or join a subcommittee, please let us know!  Find out more about us by attending one of our monthly meetings held on the third Monday of each month, 7:00 p.m. at 312 Townsend Harbor Road, or send an email to the LMG Chairs at  The commitment may be long or short term, but the benefits to the community will be lasting.

Why Do We Need Lake Management?

All lakes have a natural life cycle. Over time, a lake will gradually fill with sediment and become marshland, eventually reverting back to meadow and forest. This natural process is accelerated in areas where human activity affects the watershed and the quality of the water itself. Much can be done, however, to appropriately manage and maintain a healthy lake for a very long time to come.
