We currently have 3 teams but are hoping to create a 4th one this season with more fantastic volunteers like YOU who have reached out!

Team’s are all Hickory Hills residents and are comprised of Divers, Drivers and Bin Operators. We also work with many residents who can’t dedicate specific weeks or days our team members do, but substitute when someone has a conflict. These members are just as important and valuable to our success!

DASH ROLES!

Divers – Divers are licensed scuba divers. One handles the hose that sucks up the plant and roots from the lake bottom, while the other makes sure the first diver is safe and points out other plants in the area for them to tackle.

Drivers – Drivers drive the team around in our DASH boat to the marked locations Hickory Hills Survey team members have placed around the lake. They are in charge of knowing where both divers are at all times.

Bin Operators – Bin Operators move the fanwort from the bin to the barrels on board and help the driver whenever necessary. They also spray clean any mussels/bi-valves that make their way through the hose and throw them back into the water (these little guys filter our water and keep it clean for us for free)!
